The adventures of John Storm and the Elizabeth Swann. John Storm is an ocean adventurer and conservationist. The Elizabeth Swann is a fast solar powered boat. During a race around the world, news of the sinking of a pirate whaling ship reaches John Storm and his mate Dan Hawk. They decide to abandon the race and try and save the whale. This is a modern Moby Dick, the twist being that there is a happy ending for everyone featuring this $Billion Dollar Whale, even the whalers. Herman Melville would approve.
SOLAR BOAT RACE <<<
In this scene Charley and Steve are covering the start and historic review of a revived solar car race across Australia, from Darwin to Adelaide, called the World Solar Challenge. They compare this event with the World Zero Carbon Challenge, a Navigation boat race around the world, in terms of geographical accuracy. The Solar Cola Cup.
THE BRIEF
For this scene, aim for 3 pages (sides) and 7 illustrations, suggested as:
1. Media scrum on water, as photographers try to get pictures of the Six Pack contenders, as the skippers of the solar boats struggle to stay in line. 2. The supervising marshal triggering an air horn blast to start the race at the first time the boats lined up. 3. Huge spray from each of the six boats as they accelerate away from the starting line with the crowd in the background throwing hats in the air [Yay. Wowee. Fantastic.] 4. The Elizabeth Swann way out in the lead, with Starlight, then Photon Planet and the other stragglers in the distance coming into the open ocean from the harbour opening. 5. The press boats dashing after Starlight and the Elizabeth Swann, almost colliding with one another as they avoid Photon Planet and the other stragglers. 6. The horizon with the silhouettes of the stragglers large than Elizabeth Swann, now just a speck against a blue sky and a shimmering ocean. 7. The crowd walking off with the organisers speaking over the loud hailer to thank them for coming.
