Shui Razor cashes in his winning ticket at Ladbet International. Suki Hall is at the presentation ceremony with an official from the company, for this PR shot. The whole world cheer the Japanese rescuer for his bravery, having lost two ships to Kulo-Luna. He still dived into dangerous netting to save Kuna, the baby humpback whale. He jokes that he hopes Kulo-Luna will not sink any more of his vessels. And he has a new respect for humpback whales. John Storm is both amazed and pleased to learn Shui had been betting on Kulo-Luna to win.
In this fictional original John Storm (ocean and climate awareness) adventure story, Sand Island Yacht Club, is the venue for the start and finish of the Solar Cola Cup: World Navigation Challenge.
This is a race open to all, in unlimited fashion, provided the motive power for the competing vessel is provided by photovoltaic panels, and thence to electric drives. Batteries are allowed in the formula, but only as a buffer and single charge from the sun, the day before the race begins.
JOHN WITHDRAWS FROM RACE
John Storm was way out in the lead in the Elizabeth Swann, using only solar panels to draw away from the Six Pack, until he had a commanding lead, that was unassailable. Then, he heard the news reports of the whale in distress, with a position close enough that he believed the Swann has a good chance of finding the wounded humpback, and saving it. He thus surrenders his lead to Sarah Louise-Jones. Who, wishes him the best of luck, but is not that brave. And, she needs the win.
John loses the race of course, though after rescuing Kulo-Luna, he decides to completes the course, clocking the fastest time of any solar powered vessel anywhere in the world. In recognition of his achievement, all the other competitors and those at Sand Island Yacht Club, unanimously vote to give John a special trophy, in congratulations.
